A BABY and toddler hub has relaunched as it bids to improve its service to parents and parents-to-be across East Hampshire.

The Petersfield and Liss National Childbirth Trust (NCT) Baby and Toddler Hub was launched last month.

It comes as some services in Liss had to be closed due to a shortage of numbers and funds. Now, the group has reformed and runs groups on a weekly basis every Thursday from 10am until noon from the Petersfield United Reformed Church in College Street.

Katy Neal (38), said: “There has been a big boom in supporting mums which is brilliant but the NCT suffered a bit in terms of volunteers.

“We have to provide a proportion of what we make as a charity to head office which left a little bit in the pot to run services at a local level.

“We had to take decisions to close the groups that we run in Liss because the numbers weren’t huge.”

So, the group has joined together and re-launched as the Petersfield and Liss NCT.

“We have made it bigger and better,” Katy added.

“What’s been really fortunate is that everything has come together.

“It gives members the opportunity to seek advice on a variety of different things. You have all of that support in one place. It’s been really popular, I was really pleased. The feedback has been really positive.”

The group offers both pre and post natal classes and offers advice on weaning, breastfeeding, antenatal and postnatal care and postnatal exercise. It also runs yoga classes for both before and after pregnancy.

Katy added: “The NCT is massively important. It can be a scary time when you have children. It’s really important that there are friendly faces that can help you through these early months and beyond.”

The NCT group is urgently seeking volunteers. To find out more information e-mail [email protected]. uk.
