A PETERSFIELD charity which teaches building skills to the unemployed could play a major part in the restoration of an historic Clanfield barn.
David Petche believes the expected renovation of Crimea Barn could be a perfect project for Building Steps to get involved in.
Mr Petche was one of several figures who founded the social enterprise, which specialises in passing on carpentry, plastering and bricklaying skills to selected trainees.
He became aware of the “exciting project” to renovate the Victorian barn on the corner of Down Farm after getting in touch with Ken Moon, the county councillor who serves Clanfield.
“Building Steps is a charity that myself and a few other people set up last year with the objective of providing building experience to unemployed people,” said Mr Petche.
“It would be very exciting to be involved in a sizeable project like Crimea Barn as it would give various skills to the people we take on.”
