A HIGHLY thought of charity in Petersfield whose nurses care for dying patients in their home is appealing for support in its bid for a £10,000 grant.
To win the money from the Aviva Insurance Community Fund, the Rosemary Foundation of Petersfield and Langrish needs to gain the highest number of votes in its category.
If the charity is successful, the grant will fund its bereavement counselling service for a year, benefitting up to 650 people during that time.
Rosemary Foundation spokesman Jeremy Mitchell said: “The loss of a loved one is always painful and nothing can completely fill the void left when they die.
“However our bereavement counselling can help those left behind cope, and set them on a path to recovery.
“This can be the most important part of our service, and we need your support to ensure we can continue to offer this vital care to those who need it.”
The charity provides nurse-led care for those with life limiting conditions, as well as support for their carers, in their own homes, as life draws to a close.
Mr Mitchell added: “Whatever their condition and however long a person may have left to live, we offer personal care and emotional support to the individual and their family for as long as it takes, whether that is days, weeks or months.
“Our primary goal is to help everyone prepare in the best possible way for the inevitable outcome.
“Of course, we can’t take away the pain and sadness of losing a loved one, but the families we work with tell us that having someone with them in a professional capacity who can empathise like a friend, is a huge comfort.
“Essentially, we aim to ensure the death of a loved one is the least painful it can be, and we continue to support those left behind for as long as they need us, through our bereavement and counselling service.”
An Aviva Community Fund spokesman said: “As many friends, family and community supporters can vote for your project, and they can all cast 10 votes.
“The more support it gets, the better the chances of getting funding.”
The deadline for votes is Friday, November 18, and to vote follow the link https://community-fund.aviva.co.uk/voting/project/view/16-2459
