A small crowd gathered around the war memorial last Tuesday as Petersfield commemorated a military milestone.

Civic figures and representatives from the Royal British Legion and armed forces took part in a service led by Red Will Hughes to mark VE Day.

Members of the public also observed the late morning event with mayor Cllr JC Crissey, RBL Petersfield branch president David Lodrick MBE and the town mayor’s Cadet all laying wreaths.
