STAFF at a Petersfield dental surgery are baking cupcakes and inviting people to pop in and try them – all in the name of charity.
The team at the Sixty-Six Dental Surgery in Station Road is hoping cupcake day next Tuesday, June 19, will help swell the coffers of the two charities they will be supporting.
These are the Alzheimer’s Society – a care and research charity for people with dementia and their carers; and Marie Curie – who provide care and support for people living with any terminal illness, as well as their families.
Dr Adam Jones, of the practice, said: “We’ve chosen to support these two charities because of the amazing work they do in the community. We thought it would be fun to do some baking in return for donations. Going by previous baking days, I know our staff are a talented bunch and we’re all in for a treat.
“This is an all-day event and it is open to the public. Just pop in, make a donation and enjoy the tasty treats. We even supply a box to take them home.”
Some may think it is a bit unusual for a dentist to be encouraging people to eat cakes. Dr Jones added: “We are well aware of the irony of a dental practice selling cakes, but in our defence – everything in moderation and it’s all for a good cause.”
