CHRISTMAS of a bygone era was celebrated at Petersfield Museum with staff and trustees dressed as Victorian characters.

The museum opened its doors on Sunday (December 4) to join in with the merriment of the town’s Christmas Market.

Around 60 visitors to the museum discovered how the festive season was celebrated in Victorian times – from the often unusual cards they sent, to the parlour games they played and other traditions observed.

Children also created Christmas ornaments as part of the festive fun.
