A STREET party in Petersfield celebrating the Queen’s 90th birthday attracted more than 130 residents.

And students from The Petersfield School (TPS) helped at the fancy dress party at Broadway Park off The Causeway.

Broadway Park Qualified Residents Association social committee chairman Jackie Sollis said: “Every resident on the site was invited, and I think most came.

“Seven pupils from The Petersfield School came along to help serve the teas and they were wonderful – they mixed in and chatted, and were a real credit to the school.”

TPS student Hannah Young said: “It was good fun.”

Music was by the rock and roll band Bitter End, one of whom lives on the complex for semi-retired and retired people, which is managed by Tingdene Ltd.

Mrs Sollis said: “The band were really good, and everyone was dancing.

“There was also a raffle and a fancy dress competition, both with some lovely prizes generously donated by local businesses.

“All the residents baked ‘royal’ cupcakes for the tea, and there was a lovely atmosphere all afternoon, it was brilliant.

“I would like to thank Tingdene for their support and help organising the party.”
