PETERSFIELD police have launched action days promoting crime prevention advice about burglary.

The campaign is aimed at preventing rural burglaries.

Last Wednesday Police Community Support Officers (PCSO) were out in force in Petersfield town centre, offering advice and listening to concerns.

PCSO Paul Humphrey said: “We met and spoke with quite a few people, and they were interested in how they could prevent crime, which was good.”

Officers also handed out crime prevention pamphlets, before visiting Horndean and Rowlands Castle.

The next day, they were at the Forest Centre in Bordon between 10am and 2pm and Sainsbury’s in Liphook, and Liss village hall.

On Tuesday, June 7, the team will visit Four Marks, Selborne and Kingsley.

Advice and live updates on the campaign, called #OpCloak, will be posted on the @EastHantsCops Twitter account.

East Hampshire Chief Inspector Beth Pirie said: “This is an invaluable opportunity to raise concerns about burglary, especially in rural areas.

“While burglary levels remained low over the last year, it is an area of concern, especially when the theft in rural locations of specialised items like machinery can have a significant impact for victims.
