A NATURE loving Petersfield pupil held a sale in Petersfield for the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
Abigail Svarovska, of Ditcham Park School, was helped by friends Narelle Mount and Nikolai Gibbins at the event at Winton House.
By selling children’s clothes, toys, books, pot plants and ornaments, and offering tempting home-made cakes, they raised £144. This, 12-year-old Abigail and her mother Beth found out, was enough to pay a ranger for 40 days to help prevent rhino poaching.
Petersfield mayor Cllr Jamie Matthews attended the sale, and commented to the big-hearted youngster that events such as hers helped strengthen the town community.
He was also very impressed with Abigail’s lemon drizzle cupcakes.
Abigail, who was given a ‘adopted’ polar bear as a present, became interested in nature and wildlife at primary school.
She is considering organising other fundraisers. “It was really super, with a lovely family atmosphere,” said Beth.
