THE FUTURE of Petersfield’s recycling centre in Bedford Road is once again under scrutiny along with all similar sites in Hampshire.
Hampshire County Council operates a network of 24 recycling sites.
These are open seven days a week, except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
After a cost-cutting survey last year some operating changes were made, but due to the council getting £48m less government money than expected this year, further changes and savings are needed, says Cllr Sean Woodward.
This may include reducing hours, or even closing some recycling centres altogether, says the council.
Charges for trade waste may also be introduced.
The consultation is due to close at noon on Thursday, May 26.
