ONE of the silent soldiers which has become a familiar sight to Petersfield shoppers has made a poignant trip to a former battlefield in Belgium.
Park Court resident Peter Dimond paid tribute to his late uncle by placing a cardboard cut-out at the exact spot near Ypres where 19-year-old Trooper Wilfred Mitchell 1423 of the Household Battalion, was killed during the morning of October 12, 1917.
