A RACKET Ball enthusiast who plays at Petersfields’ Taro Leisure Centre has been crowned champion and gold medal winner in the over 65 years category, at this year’s REACT games.

A member of the Fun and Fitness club that uses the East Hampshire District Council leisure centre at Penns Place, Graham Smith came top in his age group.

The club is aimed at providing sporting opportunities for those aged 50 plus.

A REACT spokesman said: “You’re never too old and it’s never too late to try something new!, and if you want to meet new people, keep fit and have fun, we have lots on offer, so why not come along and give it a go, who knows you might just be the next champion.”

The games are an annual event where clubs from all over the South of England gather to compete against each other in a variety of sports including swimming, badminton, racket ball, table tennis, short tennis and short mat bowls.

The club is open to anyone over the age of 50 and meets at the leisure centre on a Tuesday from 12.30pm to 1.30pm, and 4.20pm to 4.20pm 6.20pm and on Fridays from 9.30pm to noon, than 1.30pm to 2.30pm.

Activities include badminton, short tennis, fitness classes, racket ball, table tennis, bowls, gym, health suite and swimming.
