A TEAM of more than 100 Petersfield students have won the Rock Challenge Open Final at Portsmouth Guildhall last Friday. The exuberant piece by pupils at The Petersfield School (TPS) based on the musical Billy Elliott also won awards for performance skills, soundtrack, visual enhancement and set design.The judges praised the skill, sensitivity and passion of the teenagers, with one judge almost overcome with emotion as he described how the ballet sequence between Billy and his mum had touched him. TPS head of drama and dance Lucy Reah said: “This is a richly deserved win, all the students – performers and crew – have worked so hard on this since last September and we are very proud of them.“Family and friends in the audience at the Guildhall raised the roof when TPS were announced as the winners.”
