HER LOVELY long hair is Shannon Evans’ crowning glory – but it’s getting the chop for charity.
The Petersfield teenager is having her waist-length locks shorn at John Peter hairdressers in Chapel Street on August 22, and donating it to the Little Princess Trust which makes wigs for young cancer-sufferers.
Shannon (13), of Highfield, has already raised £200 from a bake sale at?The Petersfield School where she is a pupil, and from donations from friends and family. She is hoping to make £100 more from the haircut.
Her mum Julie said she learned about the charity on YouTube and “it tugged at her heartstrings”.
She wanted to do something for cancer charities after her grandad died of the disease, and something for children as one of her sister’s four-week-old twins is poorly with a hole in the heart.
“She has been amazing,” said proud mum Julie. “But she has always had long hair so it is going to be quite a shock to have it cut off.”
