A PETERSFIELD mother who appeared in a sell-out wrestling show in the town is keen to resurrect the Ladies Circle social and charity fundraising group.
Katy Bishop (38), from Queens Road, trained for ten months before her professional debut at the wrestling evening in the Festival Hall on April 7.
On the night, she and team mates, Percy Swindles and Timo, were victorious in their bout, defeating the Legion Of Lords team.
And, despite afterwards being inundated with offers to wrestle at other shows, the mother of four says she isn’t rushing into anything, and is focusing on the Ladies Circle.
Katy, stage name Astrid, said: “The wrestling was a lot of fun, I really enjoyed it.
“It was a sell-out with more than 330 people of all ages there – the bulk of them from Petersfield, so there is definitely an appetite for it here, and the promoters are already talking about another show.
“I have been invited to wrestle at other shows, including appearing for a week in Italy, but I want to make sure everything is right before I commit to anything. But I definitely want to wrestle again.”
A spokesman for promoters Main Events - Mega Stars said: “We want to send a huge thank you to everyone who came to the Petersfield Festival Hall to catch our professional wrestling show.
“It was standing room only and we look forward to seeing you next time.”
But until she next enters the ring, Katy won’t be resting on her laurels.
She said: “Petersfield Ladies Circle closed in 2002 and there appears to be a lot of interest in getting a group going, so I am busy trying to resurrect it.”
Ladies Circle, a national Round Table volunteer organisation, is for woman aged 18 to 45 and as well as fundraising for charities, groups enjoy social activities.
Katy said: “I have spoken to Petersfield Round Tablers and the chairman of Winchester Ladies Circle, and it’s something that could happen.
“We’ll be focusing on community events, fundraising and organising social events.”
