PLANS to build 11 new homes and their garages in a field behind homes in School Lane in Sheet have been given the go-ahead.

Consent for the development between Farnham Road, School Lane and the railway line, has been given by South Downs National Park Authority planners.

As part of the mini-estate, new parking spots will be provided for houses in School Lane.

At the moment they have no off-road parking, causing congestion along the narrow road.

Sheet Primary School will also benefit, as an emergency access to it will be provided from the back of the school through the estate, and out on to Farnham Road.

On the landscaped site, there will be five semi-detached pairs of houses, and one detached home.

The field was owned by the late Steve Pibworth, School Lane resident and popular blacksmith in Petersfield, until his death in June 2014, when it passed to his family.
