RESIDENTS of Barentin Way are looking at taking on the open spaces and play area in the Ramshill estate.
The proposal comes after developers Taylor Wimpy announced it was set to hand ownership of the green areas over to maintenance company?Greenbelt, of Glasgow.
Greenbelt currently maintains the areas for Taylor Wimpy, but contracts the work out to other companies.
In a letter to Petersfield Town Council, John Lees, of Ramshill Residents Association, said that Taylor Wimpey had confirmed its intention to hand ownership of the green spaces to Greenbelt when the estate’s services were finally adopted by Hampshire County Council.
Mr?Lees said residents were unhappy about the proposal, and that complaints about the maintenance work had increased considerably in the past two years.
He went on to say that the association was looking at taking on the maintenance of the areas, but admitted such an undertaking would be “a significant” challenge.
