PLANNERS are expected to decide today if a controversal 200-house estate should be built in Petersfield.
Plans to build on Causeway Farm in Petersfield are expected to be decided today.
South Downs National Park Authority planning committee will hear at a meeting in the South Downs Centre in Midhurst starting at 10am that the plans are recommended for approval.
They are being put forward by developers David Wilson Homes, Bovis Homes, and landowning company 4L.
If permission is granted the developers will have to hand over more than £1m for road improvements, and community facilities.
The proposal, supported by the recently adopted Petersfield Neighbourhood Plan, has caused anger among residents of The Causeway, who have collected 200 signatures locally from those opposed to the idea.
There has also been more than 50 individual letters of protest to the national park.
The Post will be following the debate live and posting updates as the meeting progresses.
