A PLAY scheme for East Hampshire children will be out entertaining youngsters in the area this half term.

The Rural Areas Play Project (RAPP) and Get Activ8d will be running children’s events during the February half term, Monday, February 20, to Friday, February 24.

Get Activ8d is a sport project for seven to 14-year-olds, and it’s half term activities will include street dance, cheerleading, hula hooping, tennis, and a previous attendee favourite - climbing.

All activities are £4, except climbing which is £6.

RAPP began in 2006 thanks to a Big Lottery Grant and investment from Hampshire County Council along with a need for more activities during in the school holidays.

RAPP will have a visit from Mr Giant, a children’s entertainer, on Tuesday, February 21, at the Avenue Pavilion in Petersfield, where he will show off his circus skills workshop, magic, and balloon modelling.

The rest of the half term week of fun will include a teddy bear hunt around Alice Holt Forest near Farnham and natural craft sessions.

The core RAPP age group is five years and older and costs £4 per child per session, £2 for four year olds and under four year olds are free. RAPP and Get Activ8ed are managed by East Hampshire District Council (EHDC).

Cllr Julie Butler said: “It’s fantastic that RAPP and Get Activ8d are back in February half term.

“It is always great to see the fun that everyone has when RAPP and Get Activ8d are in the area. It doesn’t matter what the weather is doing, even in February, there is always plenty of fun to join in with.

“Both schemes continue to go from strength to strength and the activities on offer are versatile and suitable for all.”
