Petersfield Museum’s extensive photographic archive holds more than 100,000 photographs of life in the town and surrounding villages.

Dating as far back as the Victorian period, these photographs represent all areas of life in Petersfield and act as a window into days gone by.

This wintry photograph shows a member of staff breaking the ice at the Petersfield Open Air Swimming Pool.

The £13,000 pool was opened by Sir David Eccles, the minister for education, in May 1962, and swimmers still enter through the original turnstile.
