WELL-WISHERS have condemned a brazen thief who stole a Poppy Appeal collection tin from a Petersfield shop.
Staff at Waterstone’s passed on CCTV images of the suspect to the police following the incident, which took place at the Rams Walk store around 3pm last Tuesday.
A disappointed Clive Lewis of the Petersfield Royal British Legion (RBL) said the empty discarded tin was later found.
He said: “We don’t know how much was in it but we now have to claim through the RBL insurance.
“I heard a rumour that the miscreant was caught on CCTV so here’s hoping they catch him.”
