WHEN an elderly lady asked on FaceBook if her local Petersfield Post paper, was still coming out as she hadn’t been able to get because she was self isolating under corunavirus lockdown, hundreds liked her post and subsequent ones.

Diana Stirling of Rowlands Castle posted: “I live in Rowlands Castle but come from Petersfield and I normally buy a Petersfield Post every week.

“Being in my 80s I’ve not been to a shop for many weeks now and have relied on friends/neighbours to get essentials for me.

"Can someone tell me please if the paper has still been produced during that time?

“I miss seeing local news about what’s going on -- even the obituaries are interesting when you get to my age – so is it worth me trying to track down some copies or has it had to stop printing.”

More than 200 people liked, or commented on her post, within minutes of it going up, among them Post Chief Reporter Jon Walker.

Another 300 plus followed the unfolding story on FB.

And the following week the Post delivery van arrived at Diana’s house after dropping off copies of the Post at the village shop.

The driver then surprised Diana by leaving the back copies she was missing, plus the latest Post, outside her porch.

She said: “Feeling very grateful and more than a little surprised!!

“Now enjoying an evening catching up on six weeks local news .

“Thank you, customer service, over and above the usual and very much appreciated.”
