A DIFFICULT week ended on a high note for a Petersfield church as their annual fete pulled in a massive crowd.

St Peter’s was burgled the Tuesday before but residents stole the hearts of the church team last Saturday as their annual fete raised more than £3,500 and attracted hundreds of people.

They’re even more determined to open their doors as the funding will go towards making the church, hall and office more accessible.

Visitors enjoyed everything from hot dogs and burgers to hats and books while plenty tried their hand at archery.

The face painting stall and Petersfield Ukulele Orchestra also proved popular along with baklava and Syrian snacks served up by the Rural Refugee Network.

“It’s certainly one of the best fetes we’ve held,” said the Revd Will Hughes, adding: “The weather as just right and there was a really happy crowd.”
