THERE was plenty to sing about at Harting Pre-School with a cheque presented for £1,000.
This was handed over by members of A Choir Named Dave, who raised the money by a Valentine’s Day concert.
The thriving community choir meets in Harting church hall every Tuesday at 7.30pm and has more than 30 enthusiastic singers from the surrounding area.
Musical director Richard Martin said as the February concert, attended by around 100 people, was held in the village hall where the pre-school is held, it felt appropriate the children should benefit from the money.
He joined choir members and children, aged from 18 months to four years old, in a rendition of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star before the cheque was given to pre-school co-leaders Jackie Upfold and Julie Swain.
Julie said: “The money makes the difference between having things like glue and scissors and not having them. I helps with the day to day running of the pre-school. We may spend the money on a one-off item though, like steps with a jump.”
Richard added that the choir was great fun, and very beneficial to wellbeing.
