EAST HAMPSHIRE District Council has pledged to carry out an accessibility audit and deliver staff disability awareness training following Purple Tuesday.

The Purple Tuesday initiative on November 12 saw organisations pledge to make improvements for disabled people in their customer experience.

Council spokesman Brian Wood said: “It is really important everyone has a positive customer experience, and we are dedicated to making sure of this every day – and Purple Tuesday was a great way to show our commitment.”

Purple Tuesday is about improving awareness of the value and needs of disabled customers, and making their customer experience accessible.

Participating organisations make public commitments – such as a minimum of one new activity or initiative – to ensure sustainable changes are made.

Accessibility stories and advice were also shared on Facebook at East Hampshire District Council and on Twitter @EastHantsDC
