A RARE German doll’s house is up for sale at the next Petersfield Antiques Fair.

The early Moritz Gottschalk doll’s house dates from 1880 to 1910, and is from the blue roof series of models.

Fair organiser Caroline Penman said: “It’s a superb example, made from wood and with a spiral staircase, wallpaper and furniture.”

It is expected to sell for around £1,800. A similar model by Gottshalk can be seen in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

Another unusual item is a wooden snuff box in the form of a carved hand with fingers shaped as if pinching snuff, from around 1800.

Caroline said: “I am always amazed by the antiques and works of art our exhibitors find. It’s a great pleasure, and why visitors come back time and again.”

Also returning are dealers Jeanette Hayhurst with early English glass; Wilson’s of Worthing, Georgian and Victorian furniture; Jupiter Antiques with early English porcelain, Roger De Ville, early English pottery, Toby jugs, and commemorative ware, and Graham Reed and Michael St John, English oils and watercolours.

Caroline added: “All exhibits are vetted for quality and authenticity.”

The Petersfield Antiques Fair is in The Festival Hall from February 5-7, and about 2,000 collectors are expected to attend. Entry each day is £3.50.
