FOLLOWING a fatal accident between the Chawton roundabout and Four Marks village the A31 has now been fully reopened.

It was reopened at 2am this morning (January 14).

A police spokesman said: “We would like to thank motorists for their patience as we dealt with the investigations.”

Officers were called to reports of a three vehicle collision at 6.52pm (January 13) on the southbound carriageway.

Sadly one man has died at the scene.

Two other people, a man and a woman, have suffered minor injuries and have been taken to hospital by ambulance.

As a result, both carriageways were closed and diversions put in place as officers begin investigations into the circumstances of the collision.
