THERE’LL be all the fun of the fair at Petersfield Theatre Group’s musical production this month at the Festival Hall.

Audiences will be rolling up for the crowd-pleasing Carousel by Rodgers and Hammerstein, with its exhilarating song and dance numbers.

The iconic You’ll Never Walk Alone is one of the beloved songs in the show, which runs from May 25-28.

To convey the fairground atmosphere, creative use is being made of a big screen at the back of the stage. Lovely old carousels at the Hollycombe Working Steam Museum were filmed by the theatre group to add to the atmosphere.

The large cast includes Elliott Port as Billy, newcomer Simon Crates as Jigger, Emma Lumb – who was the baker’s wife in the group’s last production Into the Woods – as Carrie, and Alice Manville, who was Millie in Thoroughly Modern Millie, as Julie.

Alice Evans as Nettie will be singing You’ll Never Walk Alone, and 24 Petersfield schoolchildren (pictured) will be on stage to enjoy the delights of the carousel.

Kenn MacDonald returns as the director and Dennis Brombley is in charge of music. Luc Batory, technical manager at New Theatre Royal, in Portsmouth, is sorting out the lighting.

Tickets are now on sale at tourist information in Petersfield Library and from www.petersfieldtheatregroup.org
