Nut case as Petersfield mechanics make cracking discovery in VW GolfMichael Arnold has written a series of books set during the English Civil War, when Oliver Cromwell executed King Charles I and set up a government led entirely by parliament. The war between Royal supporters and Parliament supporters cost many thousands of people their lives, and changed England forever.
Michael describes his books as adventure thrillers, with a main character, Stryker, a veteran soldier, and a love interest – a French assassin – "she's tougher than Stryker in fact".
Michael's latest book, Marston Moor, is named after the deciding battle of the war, when the parliamenatarian supporters – nicknamed Roundheads – finally defeated the Royalists – nicknamed the Cavaliers.
Michael will be at Waterstone's in Rams Walk, Petersfield, talking about and signing copies of his new book, on Tuesday, July 14, starting at 7pm. Tickets are £3.
