A?MUCH-awaited spruce-up of Petersfield's war memorial has come in time for the town's VE?Day commemorations in May.
The £1,000 spray-clean of the High Street memorial has been welcomed by Royal British Legion (RBL) officials as they prepare to mark the 70th anniversary of Victory in Europe.
They were hoping it would be done before the wartime anniversaries last summer, but grants would not have come through quickly enough, according to Petersfield Town Council.
There will be a three-day weekend of events in Petersfield on May 8-10, starting with a short service at the memorial on the Friday at 2.45pm followed by two minutes silence....
