A CLANFIELD shopkeeper has become the latest victim of two women suspected of carrying out a string of distraction thefts around the south.
Nigel Hadwen is “100 per cent certain” the women in the CCTV image (pictured) were the pair that stole from his till around 5.25pm last Thursday.
The proprietor of Clanfield Greengrocers and Florists has urged other shopkeepers to look out for the duo, who wore sari-style dresses and acted “very professionally”.
One of the pair distracted an experienced shop worker while the other intimidated, confused and tricked a trainee into opening a till before helping herself to some of the contents.

Plans for 125-home estate on farmland to be discussed by Horndean councillorsMr Hadwen said: “I’m not saying how much they took but to be honest it was a great deal.
“They knew what they were doing – it’s just their children I feel sorry for.”
Anyone who sees the pair has been urged to call the police on 101 quoting 44170080468.
They are also suspected of carrying out similar crimes in Stubbington and West Sussex. The CCTV image (right) was taken from a village store in Kirdford, near Petworth in West Sussex, that the pair visited before Christmas.
“When our cashier opened the till they confused her,” said a worker at Kirdford Village Stores. “One gets you talking while the other gets you flustered.”
Police would like to hear from anyone who thinks they saw the pair in Clanfield at the time of last week’s incident.
