A SINGER-SONGWRITER from Petersfield has released her first single.
Chloe Lockyer recently graduated from The University of Westminster having studied commercial music.
Now, all her hard work through her university years has paid off as her first single was released online last month.
The 22-year-old, who grew up in Petersfield but now lives in London, is releasing her music under her stage name of Wyse – a nickname that she was first given at school.
But how did her musical career begin? “When I was 10 I started guitar lessons,” she explained.
“I was set some homework to write a song and it went from there.
“I decided that I wanted to learn a bit more about the industry.
“I was networking and trying to meet people who are interested in my project.
“University was really helpful for that. I started working on a concept for an EP which is what this is going towards.
“I was exploring dark emotions that everybody faces but don’t really express easily in the pop world.
“I really wanted to express that and make other people aware that they are normal, to make those issues talked about.”
Now, Chloe said she is pleased to have finally reached this milestone in her career.
“I feel quite proud to be a writer and producer.
“It’s something I am proud of and I want to grow more.”
The single, which was released on digital media platforms, is called 5 Foot Power House (Run).
“It’s alternative music,” Chloe added. “It’s definitely got pop elements to it.
“I am really interested in catchy melodies.
“I think it’s important to hook people in so they are able to relate to it in a catchy way, as well as listening to the vocals.
“It’s amazing. It’s been two years of so much work which has just come together to this day where it’s put out for everyone to hear.
“I’m quite nervous about it but it’s exciting.
“It means a hell of a lot because music is the only thing that makes me driven and excited.
“It’s also quite nerve racking because songwriting is a very personal thing.
“You’re putting your personal feelings out there for everyone to hear.”
The song is available to download across a variety of music websites, including Spotify, Amazon and Bandcamp.
