A PETERSFIELD neuro physio is on the crest of a wave after raising more than £4,000 swimming the Solent in a dozen-strong team that has raised about £38,000 between them.
Lifelong Petersfield resident Bev Ball joined the Positively Parkinson’s Swim Challenge team because her grandad and mother-in-law suffered the debilitating condition.
After the daunting swim the mother-of-one said: “Thank you for all of your sponsorship you generous bunch! My original target was £1,000 so I’m completely blown away by this amount.”
To prepare for the sapping 5,000m swim, the team undertook regular training swims in the Solent.
But the challenge was postponed because of the lockdowns, then again thanks to bad weather.
Then finally on Sunday (September 5) they were able to complete the testing swim.
Bev said: “Third time lucky, swim done, the weather was gorgeous, and the sea kind.”
Bev, who has treatment rooms off The Spain, also runs award-winning Parkinson’s exercise classes locally.
