SPRING is still struggling to make an appearance but garden-lovers frustrated by the weather have a chance to admire the work of others and benefit charity, thanks to the National Garden Scheme opening of The Deane House at Sparsholt.
The opening will raise funds for Friends of the Family, a charity supporting children and families across the Winchester district, today (Sunday), from 1.30pm to 5pm.
Visitors will have the opportunity to wander through the grounds to admire both traditional and contemporary gardens, including a croquet lawn, modern water features, orchard, fruit and vegetable garden and meadows. They can also be able to pick daffodils and enjoy tea in the reconfigured Georgian house.
Friends of the Family trustee Chrissie Morse, who designed the garden, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming visitors to enjoy the spring bulbs popping up all over the wonderful three-acre garden. We hope adults and children will enjoy picking some daffodils to raise money for Friends of the Family, a worthwhile charity which helps families facing very difficult and challenging circumstances.”
The Deane House is located in Woodman Lane, Sparsholt, SO21 2LR. Entry is £6 per adult, children free. Parking and teas are available but no dogs are allowed.
