IT WAS a hot potato issue for a pub landlord when almost 100 cyclists dropped by.

Colin Baker of the Half Moon pub in Sheet rustled up 112 spuds to feed the hungry riders and crew of a charity cycle ride.

“We managed to do that in 23 minutes,” said Colin, who was happy to do his bit for charity.

The 95 cyclists were on the Legal and General Royal Assets Cycle to Mipim, raising cash for children’s charity Coram.

The six-day 1,500km ride, for those working in the property industry, is now in its 11th year, starting in London and ending up in the south of France.

They were behind schedule when they arrived in Sheet, so the planned leisurely lunch in the sunshine in the beer garden at the Half Moon turned into a quick re-fuelling before they hit the road for Portsmouth.
