ST PETER’S Church in Petersfield is hosting two concerts for music lovers this month.
Popular quintet Petersfield Brass, which was formed this time last year, will be performing a varied programme at the church on Saturday (April 23), at 7.30pm.
This will include Grieg’s Music from Peer Gynt, Barber’s Adagio, and Malcolm Arnold’s Quintet.
Admission is free, with a retiring collection for In Ministry to Children, a Petersfield-based charity supporting vulnerable children and families in Colombia.
Hilmar Hauer, who originates from Germany but now lives in Liss, combines trumpet playing for the group with being music co-ordinator of St Mary Magdalen, Sheet, and a career in finance in London.
Trumpeter Ruth Strickland studied at the Royal College and Royal Academy of Music. She lives in Steep and teaches for the Hampshire Music Service.
Allan Mead on horn works as a teacher and freelance player in Hampshire and the Bristol area, having spent nine years with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
Trombonist David Thomas has been playing and teaching in East Hampshire with the Hampshire Music Service since 1985. He was a founding member of the Solent Symphony orchestra.
Daniel Barnes, from Farnborough, is stepping in on tuba for regular player Tim Davy.
Ensemble Reza return to St Peter’s for an evening of sublime chamber music on Saturday, April 30, at 7.30pm.
They will be performing a programme featuring Schumann’s Piano Quartet and Brahm’s Piano Quartet No 3 in C Minor.
Set up in 2013, Ensemble Reza represent some of this country’s leading orchestras including the London Philharmonic.
They perform regularly throughout the South East and are returning to Petersfield for the third successive year. Karine Selo will be the pianist, and not Andrew Quartermain as advertised.
