HAVING started the season with a full house for Propeller theatre company’s ‘pocket’ version of The Merchant of Venice, the next visiting production at the Bedales Olivier Theatre in Steep is the provocatively titled Strike!, produced by Turtle Key Arts.
Up-and-coming director Keziah Serreau has devised, with the company of five highly-skilled performers, a Kafka-like world where man breaks free from bureaucracy and the constraints of work. Intense physicality, humour, innovative aerial structures, straps, slack rope, trick bike and a deluge of cardboard boxes conspire to blur the boundaries between circus and theatre.
Theatre Fullstop’s commentator commends ‘a fun performance fuelled with acrobatics, clowning and shifting perspectives’ from an ensemble who ‘amaze and astonish’.
Strike! is produced by Turtle Key Arts, who brought the remarkable Ockham’s Razor to Steep, and was commissioned and co-produced by Jackson’s Lane.
It is at the Bedales Olivier Theatre for one night only, Thursday, October 1, starting at 7.30pm.
Tickets priced £12 / £10 concessions are available at One Tree Books, Lavant Street, Petersfield – call 01730 261199 _ and from the Bedales Arts box office – [email protected] or 01730 711511.
The Olivier Theatre is in the grounds of Bedales School, Church Road, Steep.
