SSEN warns that electricity can jump gaps so kites, drones and model planes don’t even have to touch the lines to cause a serious hazard.
SSEN spokesman Dale Cargill said: “As we approach the summer and people are outside playing for longer, I’d urge everyone to keep a lookout for overhead lines before they start their activity. If a kite, drone or model aircraft makes contact or becomes entangled with our overhead lines, don’t try to retrieve it – please contact us on the emergency number 105.”
