ON A BEAUTIFUL sunny afternoon, Greatham held its first music festival, G-Fest, on the village hall fields.

Nine acts took to the stage, performing everything from blues to jazz, pop to rock and folk to Ska.

The event opened with Greatham Primary School’s drama club performing songs from their show The Button Box, and the crowds peaked at more than 800 adults and children.

Liss Scouts ran the barbecue, and there was a beer tent, as well as stalls and games for everyone to enjoy.

G-Fest was run by the Greatham Village Event Committee, a voluntary group of villagers who worked on the event for many months.

Jane MacDonald said: “The turnout was way above our expectations, we were thrilled by the support and we have had many e-mails, pictures and posts on our Facebook page from villagers saying how much they enjoyed the day.”
