A RESOUNDING 'hands off our level crossing' has been given by hundreds of Sheet residents who voted in a village-wide referendum.
There was huge support – 67.8 per cent of the 525 votes cast – for keeping School Lane open with double barriers installed on the crossing.
And Sheet Parish Council, which organised the public vote, run by Electoral Reform Services to ensure impartiality, will now stand by this majority opinion.
Council chairman cllr Ron Dark said he was pleased at the high turn out - 73.9 per cent of eligible villagers - and the clear cut result....
