PETERSFIELD swimmers have been able to get their hands on a guide to Britain’s lidos ahead of its official launch date.
People who visited Petersfield Open Air Swimming Pool last Thursday were happy to splash out on a copy of The Lido Guide.
The attraction is one of 126 pools or lidos which features in the £14.99 book written by Janet Wilkinson and Emma Pusill.
“This is the pre-launch because the official publication date is June 13, but we were taking advantage of half-term to visit some of the lidos that feature in the guide,” said Emma.
“There’s never been one particular guide to all the lidos in the UK so we thought we should be the people to write one.
“We’ve had a lot of support from Historic Pools of Britain and we’ve managed to do it.
“Janet has been to them all but I’ve been to 86. I can’t manage to narrow it down to one favourite because they’re all so different – but my favourites are ones like Petersfield because they’re community ones and tend to have more pride and passion.”
The Lido Guide will be available shortly from One Tree Books and other good bookshops.
The pool also held its first artisan market on Saturday and is hoping to hold at least three more before the end of the season, with events planned on June 29, July 27 and August 31 from 9.30pm to 1.30pm.
