IF YOU’RE a fan of Fleetwood Mac then don’t stop thinking about seeing a tribute act at The Petersfield School (TPS) next week.
Rumours are going round town that Fleetingwood Mac will perform at the Studio@TPS next Friday, December 13.
That’s been confirmed by Chris Ricketts as the gig is the first in a year-long programme of concerts and events the musician will hold at the school and The Wedgewood Rooms in Southsea.
Mr Ricketts is the brains behind the Hampshire Music Company, an initiative which provides professional music services, including teaching, live music promotion and acoustic music PR services.
Future gigs at Studio@TPS include the Life in Petersfield award winners Electric Mil, Chloe Josephine, Bob Fox and Billy Mitchell and Bootleg Boss. Full details are at: www.facebook.com/hampshiremusic
Don’t expect any tacky wigs or fancy dress outfits from Fleetingwood Mac as they’re “probably the best Fleetwood Mac tribute band in the world.”
Their aim is to bring across the live sound of the legendary band with just one guitar, a keyboard, drum kit, bassist and authentic vocals.
“As much as we aim to create a genuine Fleetwood Mac sound, we can’t help but give it a modern edge, it’s just the way we play,” said a spokeswoman for the band.
“How else are five people supposed to play tribute to a band that have lasted nearly 50 years?
“A band who have, over time, have featured eight different guitarists and vocalists? A band that tour arenas all over the world, with six extra touring musicians?
“A band that started out as part of the sixties British Blues Invasion and ended up as one of the biggest mainstream groups of the eighties?
“We work hard in rehearsals to get the details right and do justice to some classic songs that play a huge part in many people’s lives.
“We also want to introduce the songs to a new generation of Fleetwood Mac fans, who just like ourselves, weren’t even born when the band were in their prime.
“We do not go on stage pretending to be Fleetwood Mac, instead we go on as who we are, five young musicians who love the music, and want to share the music of one of the world’s greatest bands to a wider audience.”
Doors and bar will open at 7pm while there’s an extra treat for fans as a support act will perform from 7.30pm to 8pm.
The main event will begin at 8.30pm with tickets priced £16/£14 from www.ticketsource.co.uk/thestudiotps
