MORE than 2,000 art lovers visited Petersfield Arts and Crafts Society’s annual summer exhibition, and spent more than £12,000 buying exhibited pieces.

Society deputy chairman George Spear said: “It was a very successful show.”

Preview night for the five-day show in Petersfield Festival Hall in Heath Road saw art to the tune of £5,000 snapped up by enthusiastic visitors.

Show co-ordinator Sarah Cliff said: “Most important of all, our members had an opportunity to see their work displayed in a gallery setting overseen by local artist and curator Bill Pullen and his team.”

Also exhibited in the hall’s foyer during the show. which ended on Tuesday, August 30, were pieces by members of the Artscape charity, which offers art activities to help alleviate mental stress.
