THE UK’s leading folk and hip hop dance company, Breaking Tradition, bring The Lock In ‘Folk Fairy Tale’ to Theatre Royal Winchester on Wednesday.

With live music from The Demon Barbers, winners of Best Live Act at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, this high energy celebration of dance culture brings some of the UK’s oldest forms of dance bang up to date with some of the youngest.

A group of hip hop dancers arrive at an apparently deserted pub but local rumour has it that this tumble-down inn is frequented by ‘other worldly’ characters and, as the regulars arrive, a clash of cultures soon turns into a dance floor stand-off.

Folk and hip hop unite to create a comical, high energy dance extravaganza for the whole family. Combining elements from Grimms’ classic fairy tales and a funked up musical score with colourful new choreography, The Lock In ‘Folk Fairy Tale’ promises to be one of the most exciting dance theatre events of the year.

The evening will also feature performances, before the show and during the interval, from dance groups Sarum Morris, Pilgrim Morris, Meon Valley Morris, Knickerbocker Glory and Knockhundred Shuttles.

Tickets for the 7.30pm show are available online at: www.theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk or by calling 01962 840440.
