THERE was drama in Petersfield town centre this afternoon (Tuesday, August 14) when a shopping street was rocked by an underground ‘explosion’.
The incident - some people in the area reported hearing a bang - around 2.30pm prompted a call out from the emergency services.
But while this picture taken by Post reader Alan Kelson paints a dramatic scene, the reality was much less serious as the case was an electrical fault which left several businesses on one side of Chapel Street without power. The fault is still being investigated at the time of writing but a spokesman for Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks said affected customers should be reconnected by 11pm.
