AN ANTIQUES valuation day held at St Mary’s Church in Liss was a big success, say organisers.
The valuation day raised money for a charity which tackles drug addiction in South America.
Novo has set up a community in Bolivia and money raised from the valuation day has gone to this project.
Sue Reed, who helped organise the antiques valuation day, said: “It went very well and we had a nice steady flow of people all the time.”
Information was on display on the day to help people understand the work Novo does to tackle drug addiction.
Sue explained: “Trevor Childs, who is on the UK board of trustees for Novo, set up a television screen with a video showing the work Novo does, and we also had a display up.
“That way when people were waiting for their valuation they could look at the display and learn about the charity. It was a good social event for people and it was very successful.”
The valuer for the charity day was Aubrey Dawson, who has appeared on Cash in the Attic, Dickinson’s Real Deal and Flog It!
“There were some interesting items and a few of the items are going to sale with Aubrey,” said Sue.
Entrance to the valuation day was free, but St Mary’s Church took donations for Novo. Refreshments were also on sale.
Sue added: “We raised £275 for Novo on the day, and we appreciate everyone who came along. The money has been transferred to Novo and it is up to them how to use it.
“I had a very good team of helpers and I would like to thank all of them.
“We had some wonderful cakes for sale and the refreshments did very well.”
