IN?AN?EFFORT?to stop houses being built beside a play area, Petersfield Town Council is urging that a bid to label the area a village green is fast tracked.
Developers want to build on Borough Hill between the play area and the railway line.
The development would encroach on the play area land and children from the houses at the top of the hill would have to cross an access road to reach the playground.
Hampshire County Council (HCC)?has been asked to to give the area National Village Green status, which would protect it from development.
