A PETERSFIELD woman is hoping to organise a meal train timetable for new parents and the elderly.
Mum of two from Rushes Road Alexandra Eno and her friends are offering to cook and deliver meals to families who maybe struggling, or could do with help.
Alexandra said: “The aim is to provide meals for a week or fortnight for new parents or an elderly person in need.
“The idea is to have enough volunteers to cook meals so that they won’t be called on that regularly to provide and deliver meals. Otherwise it’ll become too costly and onerous for them and unsustainable.
“I have set up a facebook page and so far about 80 people have joined the group, which we are calling the Petersfield Meal Train.
“We hope to run our first meal train soon, providing dinner for new parents and the elderly for 10 days or so, to see how it goes, and f it’s a success we can go from there.”
Debs Burles of Rogate is on-board the meal train concept, after she was part of a group that helped a Rogate family.
She said: “For about ten weeks, we helped a young family who already had two children, then had twins. It can be very stress full when a baby is born, and any help is always appreciated, I think.”
And in the run up to the trial, Alexandra has renewed her appeal for more people to help.
appreciated I’m looking to spread the word and get people to like the Facebook page, and soo indicate that they would be willing to offer a family meal to those who could benefit.”
