AFTER a series of thefts from vehicles left in a country lane near a Petersfield beauty spot, walkers are being warned not to leave valuables on show in their car.
Thieves have targeted cars parked on lanes around, and leading to, Butser Hill, but not those in the official car park on the hill.
East Hampshire Police Community Support Officer Tria Gibbs said: “Over the last few weeks there have been a number of vehicles that have had their window broken while the owners have been walking their dogs, or just out for a walk themselves.
“The vehicles have been parked on the side of the road in North Lane close to the very popular Bluebell woods area of Clanfield or on the side of the road at the top of Butser hill and not in the car park. Handbags have been left in the vehicles along with other high value items.
