Witness appeal after attempted car theft in Petersfield

PETERSFIELD Police is appealing for witnesses after thieves tried to steal a vehicle in Pulens Lane.

The attempted theft was on Sunday, December 18, between 9.30pm and 9.40pm.

Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Kathryn Morning said: “Please let us know if you saw anything suspicious at this time by calling 101 and referencing crime number 44160476666.

“And please remember to secure your vehicle when it is parked up at night.”

She added that vehicles shouldn’t be left in a visible place when not in use they should always be locked and the keys kept in a secure place.

The use of hitch locks, wheel clamps or ground anchors, should also be considered, she said.

And as well as uniquely marking vehicles and other property, vehicle’s should be fitted with tracking devices.

PCSO Morning said: “Consider fitting a tracking device or a data tagging chip; your insurance company can provide advice on suitable products.”
